SEO-VIETNAM MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
SEO Vietnam currently runs mentorship programs for our fellows, during their time with the program, as well as for our alumni once they have graduate from the program.
We firmly believe mentorship is a great help for your professionals striving to find balance, make career decisions and cope with everyday life in large and small organizations. The mentorship program for our fellows during the SEO Vietnam spring or summer programs offers great guidance during an intensive period in which they need to complete an internship, receive training, attend speaker series and work on non-profit projects. Once graduated and officially becoming an alumni you’ll have the chance to apply for the SEO Alumni Mentorship Program, to which we have attracted close to 30 business leaders in Vietnam, Singapore and the US across a wide array of backgrounds, experiences and industries.
The SEO Alumni Mentorship Program is an officially sponsored initiative from the SEO Vietnam Board of Directors and one we have taken great pride in developing. The program is designed to add value to our dear SEO alumni throughout their careers, and we put strong emphasis on sharing learnings in a communal way. For example, each alumnus that gets accepted to the program is required to provide updates after every meeting with their mentor to a Facebook group of all other mentees, to ensure that all the useful knowledge that was transfer in person from a mentor to a mentee gets soaked up by the wider group of alumni mentees. Furthermore, we hold regular dinners, presentations and sharing sessions between mentors and mentees to encourage networking, communal sharing and bonding.
Would you like to become a mentor?
Great! We’d love to have you. Here’s a few things to consider before we take the next steps:
- We’ve set a minimum time commitment of 2-4 hours a month spent with a potential mentee. Ideally it’d be approximately an hour a week, but no one will sit next you with a stopwatch.
- We’d love for this program to run at least a year to ensure there’s enough time to have an impact on both sides, and leave it up to the mentors and mentees to take it forward beyond 12 months if they both want to.
- You don’t have to be in the same physical location as your mentee. Skype, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, Viber, etc work great too.
- We will ask the mentees to write personal statements when applying to a maximum 3 mentors, meaning you will have the chance to review and select those applicants that you think you will be able to match best with, and have the most impact to.
